The colour red means many different things in many cultures. To the Chinese it symbolizes luck, vitality, fertility, and happiness. In our western culture it can stand for passionate love but also passionate anger. It means danger, violence, and it’s the colour of blood. At the same time, we experience the blood-red Corn Poppy as a cheerful sight, reminding us of the abundance of summer.
